a little bit about me
My name is Hanifa and I am a Canadian Bengali neuroscientist who loves anything related to self-development, community, emotional intelligence, wellness and, of course, the brain!
My academic journey reflects this passion, as I hold:
An HBSc. in Applied Life Science specializing in Biomedical Sciences from Lakehead University.
A Graduate Diploma in Brain Disorders Management from Mohawk College.
A Masterโs Degree in Neuroscience from McGill University
Questions people often ask me
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE NEUROSCIENCE?
I chose neuroscience as something I wanted to major in as I am a highly curious person and the brain, in my opinion, is like the ocean - of which only a small percentage has been explored. Luckily for me, I can't swim so exploring the ocean was not an option!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
I have been told that I have the wisdom of a 120-year-old but the curiosity and playfulness of a toddler! I just strive to be a good human being.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Toronto, Canada. Raised in Hamilton, Ontario and ethnically I am Bengali and my roots go back to East Pakistan and Yemen!
WHY โHANIFAS DIARYโ?
This was inspired by my need to speak on my own individual experiences with vulnerability while also tying them to a bigger purpose in hopes of touching others like me.
